The director of finance is responsible for planning, organizing, administering and controlling the operations of the Accounting department.

  • Manage an accounting team
  • Provide financial guidance to the senior management team concerning all financial aspects of the operation;
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, annual budgets, summaries and other financial analyses and management reports;
  • Monitor Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and inventory control to ensure acceptable standards are met and maintained;
  • Take a proactive role in cost accounting activities, fixed asset accounting, cost analysis as required;
  • Develop and monitor processes and controls and optimize financial returns;
  • Supervise the file preparation for auditors and the annual audit;
  • Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendation for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior managers and other departments;
  • Recruit staff and oversee training programs for accounting staff;
  • Provide guidance and support for personal and professional development of personnel.

What is expected from a Financial Controller at iSpice foods:

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience including supervision and management experience in progressively more responsible roles;
  • BA in accounting; CPA preferred;
  • Very hands-on person involved in all aspects and cycles of accounting functions;
  • Demonstrated superior management and leadership skills in order to cultivate and strengthen relationships, with a proven track record of optimizing team performance and achieving group goals and deadlines;
  • Proven effective interpersonal skills to develop team cohesion and promote positive morale to achieve successful team results;
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of budget preparation, financial statement preparation and analysis;
  • Understanding of and ability to apply variance analysis to operational guidelines;
  • Proven analytical skills to problem solve and determine proactive solutions for pending and/or unplanned situations;
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Internet, etc.)
  • Practical knowledge of a large ERP system, preferably SAP Business One
